Soon the Apple users will be able to unlock their hotel room digitally

Soon anybody can unlock hotel rooms using a digital key card.

Apple and Hyatt have teamed up to transform the iPhones and iPads into hotel room keys. One will utilize an iPhone or an Apple Watch to access the function, although at the beginning the feature will only be accessible at Hyatt hotels.

In a press statement, Hyatt Hotels Corporation told reporters, Room keys will be available in Apple Wallet at the first six involved US hotels: Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, Hyatt House Chicago/West Loop-Fulton Market, Hyatt House Dallas/Richardson, Hyatt Place Fremont/Silicon Valley, and Hyatt Regency Long Beach.

The iPhone or Apple Watch will not only open your room, but it can also open additional significant card-protected common spaces including the gym, pool, and elevator eliminating the necessity for a physical keycard. For the time being, this service will only be available at the hotels mentioned above, so you won't be able to use it at all Hyatt properties or other hotel chains. On your iPhone, you'll require iOS 15 or higher, and on your Apple Watch, you'll require watchOS 8 or relatively new.

Apple initially announced this feature at WWDC 2021. Other hotel chains should also follow this suit, as it's quite beneficial for regular travelers because of this feature, anyone who misplaces their key card can still enter their room without facing any trouble. The feature is also expected to be launched in India soon.
