11:15am - 11:30am - Expedia overview
11:30am - 12:00pm - Talk #1
12:00pm - 12:45pm - Talk #2
12:45pm - 1:30pm - Talk #3
1:30pm - 2:00pm - Lunch Break and Networking
2:00pm - 3:30pm - Talk #4
Topic #1: – Real-Time Anomaly Detection on Telemetry Data using Neural Networks
Speaker: Keshav Peswani, Senior Software Engineer at Expedia
In this talk, we will present the journey of distributed tracing in Expedia that started with Zipkin as a prototype and ended up building our own solution(in open source) using OpenTracing APIs. We will do a deep dive into our architecture and demonstrate how we ingest terabytes of tracing data in production for hundreds of our micro-services and use this data for trending service errors/latencies/rates. With the increasing number of microservices, there felt the need to have a real-time intelligent alerting and monitoring system to contribute to the goal of reducing MTTD and MTTK and move towards 24/7 reliability.
Prerequisites - Neural Networks along with basic knowledge in streaming and understanding how the observability data fits in with neural networks to reduce MTTK and MTTD.
Topic #2:Time Series Prediction using LSTM (Hands-on session)
Speaker: Sharang Chopra, Software Development Engineer at Expedia group https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharang-chopra-aa1536108/
Time series forecasting is an important area of machine learning that is
often neglected. It is important because there are so many prediction problems that involve a time component. These problems are neglected because it is this time component that makes time series problems more difficult to handle. In this, we will take an Open Source Timeseries Dataset and demonstrate how to use LSTM to do time series analysis and prediction.
Basic understanding of python, TensorFlow
Topic#3: Making ML/AI Workflows easier with Airflow
Speaker: Sarthak Deshwal, Software Development Engineer at Expedia Group
Abstract: Data pipelines have become the part and parcel of data science. Resilient pipelines are very much a necessity in ML/AI projects, which scale. In this workshop, we would like to share our experience of using Apache Airflow to create ML/AI pipelines. It will be a complete hands-on live coding exercise, creating everything from scratch.
Prerequisites: Reading/Writing/Debugging level literacy with Python.
Topic #4: Learn UX Practices for Designing AI Applications (Hands-on)
Speaker: Monika Khanna, Associate Design Director at IBM
Abstract: AI is something that excites me as it has changed the way we write content and design any system. Artificial intelligence and machine learning is a field that is moving at lightning speed and has tremendous potential in creating revolutionary impact across different sectors like healthcare, e-commerce, real estate, finance, HR management and many more.
During the session, we will discuss the entities that are defining human-computer interactions. With the rise of voice assistants, voice-enabled devices and a growing number of chatbots, natural language defines the next trends in HCI. NLP( Natural Language Processing) is emerging to NLU(Natural Language Understanding) to give a more human-centered design experience.
Prerequisites: Basic understanding of the design and it's processing.
