GNM stands for "General Nursing and Midwifery".

What is GNM?

It is a nursing course that is of duration of 3.5 years long. It is a diploma course that provides a platform for a student to pursue a career in clinical nursing.

The whole duration is built on the phase work of 3 years of college-provided education and the rest 6 months is for the internship. The internship process provides the opportunity for the students to work in nursing homes, hospitals, and other private medical firms and associations. As per the course, the name is concerned, the whole course and the internship is basically is meant for the students who are longing to assist the doctors in hospitals and other places of work. The work focuses on overall nursing care that mostly revolves around training to provide maternity care, especially in rural areas.

The admission process is led by the general test that is conducted at the state level in the respective departments.

As per the eligibility is concerned, every student who has passed the 12^th standard with the minimum aggregate of 50% is eligible for the test. Since it provides a wider range of job profiles, the syllabus consists of the subjects like the anatomy of the Human Body, Psychology, Fundamentals of Nursing, Diseases, Hygiene, Mental Health and even a lit bit of Computer Education, providing more options from the job perspective.
