Instagram introduced a new update "Sensitive Content Control" to curb sensitive content on the platform.

Instagram rolled out new feature ''Sensitive Content Control''

Instagram added a new update to enable users to avoid sensitive content on its Explore feed. The update will prove to be beneficial for those users who aren't fond of seeing sensitive content on their feed, allowing them to customize their explore feed as per their preference. Currently, Android and iOS users can use this update. Although, the update won’t delete the whole sensitive posts from the feed the posts will be available in a very less volume.

Instagram was first introduced as the photo-sharing app where people can share their precious moments with their followers but as time passes several kinds of content are started publishing on the platform some of which are very sensitive too. Due to this reason several people have started avoiding exploring feeds on Instagram as not everyone loves to see sensitive posts on its feed. Along with this, Instagram also faced backlash for not filtering sensitive content from its platforms. Although, Instagram is constantly trying to filter such kinds of posts from its explore feed but due to its guidelines it can't remove all posts belonging to any sensitive topics, but to overcome this issue the tech giant has now introduced this new update for its users to filter the sensitive contents as per their preferences.

Instagram confirmed that if the content doesn't meet their suggested guidelines then it will be automatically removed from the explore feed of those users who choose the view less sensitive content option. On the other hand, if the users enable the sensitive content option, then they will see more sensitive pictures and videos as they are seeing on the explore feed now. Posts that may be sexually violent” or promote the use of tobacco come under the sensitive content category.

Although, there is a drawback of this update as the update only enables  18+ users to filter content recommendations, hence if a user is under 18 years of age then he/she would not be eligible to use this update.
