Intel driver starts to collect data by default

【Lansheng Technology Information】Intel recently released the 101.4578 Beta test version of the graphics card driver, focusing on supporting the Arc Ruixuan series, but there is a hidden point besides the regular update.

During the installation process, select the typical mode, and a new option of "Compute Improvement Program" will appear, which is checked by default.

According to Intel's explanation, in order to improve the performance, functions, and user experience of Arc graphics cards, the CIP project will collect users' computer usage habits, system information, other device information, visited websites (excluding URL links), etc. Among them, the usage information includes: graphics card frequency, driver software usage time, system memory usage, notebook battery life, plug-and-play devices, etc.

System information includes but is not limited to: device manufacturer, CPU model, memory and display configuration, operating system version, software version, regional and language settings, location and time zone, etc. Intel also emphasized that it will never collect sensitive personal information such as user names, addresses, email addresses, and mobile phone numbers. These operations are actually the routine operations of the manufacturers, but it is a bit uncomfortable to just check them silently.

However, Intel is not too much. Compared with NVIDIA's GeForce graphics card driver, the data collection function is forced to be enabled by default, and it cannot be turned off, and custom installation is also not acceptable.
