What is the full form of IVR?

IVR stands for "Interactive Voice Response".

This technique connects humans to the computer through voice commands. The computer is programmed in the advanced phone’s system and in place of the keyboard, voice command is used. The IVR techniques allow customers to connect to the company’s host system through computerized telephonic conversation.

Imagine a scenario, a customer reaching the customer care number and before reaching the person in charge, she is referred to the pre-recorded IVR system which guides the customer calls. The IVR is inbuilt to facilitate the journey of a customer to the person in charge. It also hampers the time management for both parties. According to different companies and firms, it is set differently and, also it is designed in such a way that it has respective operations to follow.

The IVR service serves a wider field of purpose. It is used for gadgets purchasing, banking services, retail orders, utilities, travel information, and weather conditions.

The basic function follows that it is designed to take input, process it according to the command it has been given in, and then finally the result is generated.

Tracing back the history, even though the invention of the technique took place in the early 1970s but during that time it was considered to be an expensive affair, and usually, for a very long period of time people considered man-to-man conversations to be more convenient and feasible. Later on during the period 2000s, with the advancement of technology, it started to become more cost efficient and from there it picked up success.
